The 22nd European Youth Brass Band will be gathering in Linz, Austria 18-26 April 2026.
The conductor, accomodation and rehearsal venue looks promising and will ensure that the players will have an amazing week in Linz.
Meet the conductor – Karl Geroldinger
Karl Geroldinger is a well-known musician and conductor from Austria who has spent his life making music and helping others learn to love it too.
Karl studied the trumpet at the Bruckner-Conservatory in Linz. He then taught trumpet to students in Schärding for seven years, inspiring many young musicians. Later, he became the headteacher at the music school in Ried for ten years, and from 1995 to 2025, he led all the music schools in Upper Austria.
As a conductor, Karl has led the Sinfonic Wind Band of Ried since 1988. He also conducted the Wind Band of Enzenkirchen for thirty years and guided the Youth Brass Band of Upper Austria from 2010 to 2022, giving young musicians the chance to shine.
He conducted the Youth Wind Band in Südtirol, Italy in two periodes.
Karl conducted the European Youth Brass Band in 2010, and it was so successful and inspiring to the youth that he will also conduct the 2026 version.
Throughout his career, Karl Geroldinger has inspired young musicians, improved music education, and shown how music can bring people together.
Accomodation
The player will be staying at Jugendgästehaus Linz. The guesthouse is offering free use of a tennis court and fitness room.
Jugendgästehaus Linz is a modern hostel next to Linz Stadium and an indoor sports arena. The functionally furnished rooms come with bunk beds and a private bathroom. The Linz Jugendgästehaus features a shared lounge, games room, and vending machines for drinks and snacks. The center of Linz and Linz Main Train Station are a 25-minute walk away.
Rehearsal venue
Upper Austria can offer some amazing rehearsal venues for brass- and windbands. The rehearsal venue for the EYBB 2026 offers full percussion line up and excellent acoustic. This is a part of the music school education system in Upper Austria that is organised by the state, and it is one of the best music school systems in Europe.
